Welcome to Gender Ink

Harnessing the power of narrative, connection, and wit to build bridges, challenge perspectives, and inspire action.

Gender Ink

About

At Gender Ink, we believe in the power of stories—not just as a means of self-expression, but as a catalyst for change. Born from the realization that the personal is deeply political, we seek to harness the power of narrative, connection, and wit to build bridges, challenge perspectives, and inspire action.

Whether you're a poet, novelist, or essayist, Gender Ink is here to help you turn your passion for writing into a force for activism.

Writing & Literary Theory Workshops

Our workshops are designed to teach the art of writing with a purpose. Participants learn how to craft compelling, complex narratives that resonate with readers and change minds. Topics include writing with consideration, using poetry and prose to highlight underrepresented voices and analysis of not-so-didactic impactful writers.

Workshops on Intersectionality and The World:

We believe understanding the interconnectedness and complexity of social issues is crucial for effective writing about the human experience. Our workshops explore how gender, race, class, and history intersect to make up our lives. We intend to show participants how this affects them and how to integrate these perspectives into their writing and analysis, creating more aware and impactful work.

Mentorship for Writer-Activists:

Our mentorship program pairs experienced writers with aspiring writer-activists, guiding participants in developing their writing, giving mentees individualized insight and critique, and ultimately helping them craft impactful multi-layered messages. With this personalized support, we intend to help participants refine their voices and ultimately amplify their impact.

Outreach Opportunities

Gender Ink provides outstanding participants in our programs with the chance to publish their work through our partners and showcase their writing at public readings and performances. These opportunities also serve as valuable experiences for service learning and professional experience, enabling participants to connect with their communities, raise awareness, and inspire action through their words.
