As a philosophy, we believe in breaking down barriers between "reader," "writer," "expert," and "audience." Through a critical pedagogy, we encourage learning and writing as a shared effort. This means we ditch the 'red pen' culture in favor of collaborative brainstorming. We might spend a session building a shared fictional world from scratch, swapping half-finished poems to see where someone else takes them, or looking at how our personal family stories can actually challenge the 'official' history books. We aim to cultivate a space where our experiences and perspectives are celebrated and honed into shared art.
